Kepler-1472 b: A Super-Earth in a Distant System

Kepler-1472 is a star located 4820 light-years away, with one known planet orbiting it. The host star is estimated to be 3.09 billion years old, with a mass of 1.16 solar masses and a radius of 1.25 solar radii. Its temperature is 6160 K, hotter than the Sun's, and its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's.

The system's only known planet, Kepler-1472 b, is classified as a Super-Earth, a size class that reaches up to 2.5 times Earth's radius. It was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1472 b has a radius of 1.9 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and orbits its star every 38.1 days.
