Kepler-1396 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-1396 is a star 3480 light-years away with one known planet. The host is 2.75 billion years old, has 1.18 solar masses, 1.27 solar radii, and a temperature of 6200 K. Each of these values is larger than the corresponding value for the Sun, and the temperature is hotter as well.

The planet is Kepler-1396 b, a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2016. It orbits every 18.2 days and has a radius of 2.07 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods.
