Kepler-1345 b: A Super-Earth in a Distant System

Kepler-1345 is a single star located 4420 light-years away. The star is 2.24 billion years old and has a mass of 1.32 solar masses, a radius of 1.55 solar radii, and a temperature of 6450 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

That planet is Kepler-1345 b, a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1345 b completes an orbit every 44.6 days and has a radius of 2.36 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Its size classification reflects this radius rather than its composition.
