Kepler-1310 and Its Earth-Like Planet

Kepler-1310 is a star 1860 light-years away with one known planet. The host star is 4.17 billion years old and has a mass of 0.91 solar masses, a radius of 0.88 solar radii, and a temperature of 5550 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-1310 b was discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1310 b completes an orbit every 0.679 days, and its radius is 1.44 Earth radii. That radius is larger than Earth's. Planet size classes compare radius with Earth's, and an Earth-like planet stays within 1.5 times Earth's radius; Kepler-1310 b is classified as Earth-like.
