Kepler-1264 b: A Close-In World Around a Star

Kepler-1264 is a star 2620 light-years away with one known planet. The star is 4.17 billion years old and has a mass of 0.99 solar masses, a radius of 0.98 solar radii, and a temperature of 5790 K.

The planet, Kepler-1264 b, was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1264 b completes an orbit in 0.969 days. Its radius is 1.18 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and its size class is Earth-like, meaning it stays within 1.5 times Earth's radius.
