Kepler-1248 and Its Solitary Planet

Kepler-1248 is a star located 1930 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is 1.51 billion years old, has a mass of 1.21 solar masses and a radius of 1.21 solar radii, and its temperature is 6150 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-1248 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1248 b is an Earth-like planet, a size class that stays within 1.5 times Earth's radius. It orbits every 7.47 days, and its radius is 1.18 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
