Kepler-1242 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-1242 is a star 2240 light-years away with one planet in orbit. The star is 5.62 billion years old and has a mass of 0.77 solar masses, a radius of 0.74 solar radii, and a temperature of 4900 K. The star's mass and radius are smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet, Kepler-1242 b, is a Super-Earth discovered by the transit method in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1242 b completes an orbit every 13.6 days and has a radius of 2.26 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
