Kepler-1196 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-1196 is a star 3010 light-years away with one known planet. The host star is 3.98 billion years old and has a mass of 0.98 solar masses, a radius of 0.97 solar radii, and a temperature of 5760 K.

The planet, Kepler-1196 b, was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, which detects the small dip in a star's brightness when a planet passes in front of it. Kepler-1196 b is a Super-Earth, a size class that reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius, and its radius is 2.23 Earth radii. That reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's. It completes one orbit every 66.2 days.
