Kepler-1171 and Its Solitary Planet

Kepler-1171 is a star located 1870 light-years away. It hosts one known planet, Kepler-1171 b. The host star is estimated to be 1.58 solar masses and 1.95 solar radii, both larger than the Sun's corresponding values, with a temperature of 7040 K that is hotter than the Sun's. Its age is given as 1.35 billion years.

The single planet, Kepler-1171 b, was discovered by the transit method in 2016, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. It is classified as Neptune-like, and its radius of 2.56 Earth radii is larger than Earth's. The planet completes an orbit in 1.44 days.
