Kepler-1164 and Its Planet

Kepler-1164 is a star located 1410 light-years away, with one planet known to orbit it. The star's reported mass estimate is smaller than the Sun's, at 0.85 solar masses, and its reported radius estimate is also smaller than the Sun's, at 0.79 solar radii. Its temperature of 5180 K is cooler than the Sun's, and it is 3.63 billion years old.

The single planet, Kepler-1164 b, was discovered by the transit method in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness, and repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1164 b completes an orbit every 3.98 days, and its radius of 1.12 Earth radii makes it larger than Earth. That radius places it within the Earth-like size class, which covers planets up to 1.5 times Earth's radius.
