Kepler-1159 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-1159 is a star located 3960 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The host star is estimated to be 2.75 billion years old, with a mass of 1.19 solar masses and a radius of 1.28 solar radii. Its temperature is 6220 K. The star's reported mass, radius, and temperature estimates are all larger or hotter than the Sun's.

The sole planet, Kepler-1159 b, is classified as a Super-Earth. This size class compares radius with Earth's, covering planets up to 2.5 times Earth's radius. Kepler-1159 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. The planet completes an orbit every 22.7 days and has a radius of 2.37 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
