Kepler-1151 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-1151 is a star located 2230 light-years away. It has one known planet. The star is estimated to be 4.37 billion years old, with a mass of 0.88 solar masses, a radius of 0.85 solar radii, and a temperature of 5470 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet, Kepler-1151 b, was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1151 b is classified as a Super-Earth, a size class that reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius. Its reported radius estimate is 2.22 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and it completes an orbit every 65.6 days.
