Kepler-1147 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-1147 is a star located 5410 light-years away. It is 3.8 billion years old and has a mass of 1.09 solar masses and a radius of 1.14 solar radii. Its temperature is 5940 K, and its reported mass, radius, and temperature estimates are each larger or hotter than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

That planet is Kepler-1147 b, classified as Neptune-like and discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1147 b has an orbital period of 10.6 days and a radius of 2.61 Earth radii, making its reported radius estimate larger than Earth's.
