Kepler-1141 and Its Planet

Kepler-1141 is a single-star system located 1280 light-years from Earth. The host star is 6.17 billion years old and has 1.01 solar masses, a radius of 1.07 solar radii, and a temperature of 5790 K. One planet orbits it.

That planet is Kepler-1141 b, discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1141 b completes an orbit every 2.34 days. Its radius is 0.82 Earth radii. This reported radius estimate is smaller than Earth's, placing the planet in the Sub-Earth size class, which compares radius with Earth's.
