Kepler-1121 b: A Super-Earth in a Distant Star System

Kepler-1121 is a star located 1570 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is estimated to be 3.02 billion years old, with a reported mass estimate of 1.29 solar masses and a reported radius estimate of 1.59 solar radii. Its reported temperature is 6230 K, which is hotter than the Sun's. Both the star's reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's.

The system's only known planet is Kepler-1121 b, a Super-Earth discovered by the transit method in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1121 b has a reported radius estimate of 1.91 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's. In the size classification used for planets, a Super-Earth has a radius reaching up to 2.5 times Earth's radius. The planet completes an orbit every 13.2 days.
