Kepler-1063 and Its Earth-Sized World

Kepler-1063 is a star some 1120 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is 3.39 billion years old, with a mass of 1.09 solar masses and a radius of 1.14 solar radii. Its reported mass estimate is larger than the Sun's, and its temperature of 5950 K is hotter than the Sun's.

The single planet, Kepler-1063 b, was found by the transit method in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet crosses in front of its star from our viewpoint, dimming the star slightly. Kepler-1063 b orbits every 14.1 days and has a radius of 1.49 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. That radius places it in the Earth-like size class, which covers planets up to 1.5 times Earth's radius.
