Kepler-1062 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-1062 is a star 1300 light-years away with one known planet. The host star is 2.45 billion years old and has a mass of 0.75 solar masses, a radius of 0.7 solar radii, and a temperature of 4600 K. Its mass and radius are smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-1062 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1062 b is a Super-Earth, a size class that compares radius with Earth's and reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius. It orbits every 9.3 days and has a radius of 1.76 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
