Kepler-105: A Star and Its Two Short-Period Planets

Kepler-105 is a star located 1500 light-years away that hosts two planets, both discovered by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. The star is 3.47 billion years old and has a mass of 1.11 solar masses, a radius of 1.16 solar radii, and a temperature of 6080 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's.

Kepler-105 b is a Neptune-like planet discovered in 2013. It has a mass of 10.8 Earth masses, a radius of 2.53 Earth radii, and an orbital period of 5.41 days. Among the listed planets, it has the shortest orbital period. Its mean density is 3.67 g/cm³, 0.667 times Earth's. Its reported radius and mass estimates are larger than Earth's.

Kepler-105 c is an Earth-like planet discovered in 2014. It has a mass of 5.6 Earth masses, a radius of 1.44 Earth radii, and an orbital period of 7.13 days. Among the listed planets, it has the longest orbital period. Its mean density is 10.3 g/cm³, 1.88 times Earth's. Its reported radius and mass estimates are larger than Earth's.

Among the listed planets, Kepler-105 b has the largest radius by reported estimates at 2.53 Earth radii and the largest reported mass at 10.8 Earth masses. Kepler-105 c has the smallest radius by reported estimates at 1.44 Earth radii and the smallest reported mass at 5.6 Earth masses.
