Kepler-1006 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-1006 is a star with one known planet. The star is estimated to be 4.27 billion years old, with a mass of 0.78 solar masses and a radius of 0.74 solar radii. Its temperature is 5330 K, cooler than the Sun, and both its mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-1006 b was discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1006 b orbits its star every 19.8 days and has a radius of 1.54 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. That radius places it in the Super-Earth class, which includes planets reaching up to 2.5 times Earth's radius.
