Kepler-1002 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-1002 is a star 1330 light-years away, and one planet has been found orbiting it. The star is estimated to be 4.07 billion years old, with a mass of 1.22 solar masses, a radius of 1.57 solar radii, and a temperature of 6140 K. Its reported mass, radius, and temperature are all larger or hotter than the Sun's.

The planet, Kepler-1002 b, is a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1002 b orbits its star every 4.34 days and has a radius of 1.71 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. As a Super-Earth, its size class reaches up to 2.5 times Earth's radius, though this describes radius rather than composition.
