Kepler-1861 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-1861 is a star located 2710 light-years away. It has a mass of 1.04 solar masses, a radius of 1.41 solar radii, and a temperature of 5780 K. Its reported mass estimate is larger than the Sun's, and its reported radius estimate is larger than the Sun's. One known planet orbits this host.

That planet is Kepler-1861 b, a Super-Earth discovered in 2021 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1861 b completes an orbit every 40 days and has a radius of 2.21 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's. As a Super-Earth, its size class reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius.
