Kepler-1807 b: A Neptune-Like World in a Distant Star System

Kepler-1807 is a star located 4240 light-years away, and it hosts exactly one known planet. The star is more massive and larger than the Sun, with a reported mass of 1.27 solar masses and a radius of 1.65 solar radii. Its temperature is 6360 K.

The planet, Kepler-1807 b, was discovered in 2021 using the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1807 b completes an orbit every 10.9 days, and its radius is 2.7 Earth radii. That radius is larger than Earth's and places the planet in the Neptune-like size class, which includes planets with radii up to four times Earth's.
