Kepler-162 is a star 2790 light-years away with two planets orbiting it. The star is 3.02 billion years old, has a mass of 1.12 solar masses, a radius of 1.2 solar radii, and a temperature of 6090 K. Its mass estimate is larger than the Sun's, and its temperature is hotter than the Sun's.
Both planets were discovered by transit in 2014, the method in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness.
Kepler-162 b is an Earth-like planet with a radius of 1.26 Earth radii and an orbital period of 6.92 days. Among the listed planets, it has the shortest year and the smallest radius. Kepler-162 c is a Neptune-like planet with a radius of 3.03 Earth radii and an orbital period of 19.4 days. Its radius estimate is larger than Earth's, and among the listed planets it has the longest year and the largest radius.
