Kepler-1216 and Its Solitary Known Planet

Kepler-1216 is a star located 4100 light-years away. It has 0.99 solar masses, 0.98 solar radii, a temperature of 5740 K, and an age of 4.07 billion years. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet is Kepler-1216 b, an Earth-like world discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. It completes an orbit every 4.37 days. Its radius is 1.39 Earth radii, a size estimate larger than Earth's.
