KIC 9663113 and Its Two Known Planets

KIC 9663113 is a star located 5200 light-years away, and it hosts two known planets. The star's reported mass estimate is 1.15 solar masses, its reported radius estimate is 2.22 solar radii, and its temperature is 6120 K. Its mass, radius, and temperature are all reported as larger or hotter than the Sun's.

Both planets were found by transit, the method in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. KIC 9663113 b was discovered in 2015 and has an orbital period of 572 days and a radius of 4.6 Earth radii. Kepler-458 c was discovered in 2016 and has an orbital period of 20.7 days and a radius of 4.2 Earth radii. Both are Jupiter-like planets, a size class that exceeds 4 times Earth's radius, and each has a reported radius estimate larger than Earth's. Among the listed planets, Kepler-458 c has the shortest year by reported estimates at 20.7 days and the smallest radius by reported estimates at 4.2 Earth radii, while KIC 9663113 b has the longest year by reported estimates at 572 days and the largest radius by reported estimates at 4.6 Earth radii.
