KELT-7 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

KELT-7 is a single star 446 light-years away with one known planet. It is an F-type star with a temperature of 6790 K, which is hotter than the Sun. Its mass is 1.54 solar masses and its radius is 1.73 solar radii, both larger than the Sun's corresponding values, and its age is 1.3 billion years.

The planet KELT-7 b was discovered in 2015 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. It is a Jupiter-like planet, a size class that exceeds 4 times Earth's radius. Its radius is 17.9 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and its mass is 442 Earth masses, larger than Earth's and roughly 1.39 times Jupiter's mass. Its mean density is 0.422 g/cm³, 0.0766 times Earth's. It completes an orbit every 2.73 days.
