K2-48 is a star 1020 light-years away with one known planet. The host star has a mass of 0.75 solar masses, a radius of 0.732 solar radii, and a temperature of 4710 K, all of which are smaller or cooler than the Sun's corresponding values.
The planet K2-48 b is a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2016, when it was detected passing in front of its star and causing a small dip in observed brightness. It completes an orbit every 20.5 days. Its radius of 2.24 Earth radii is larger than Earth's, and under the size classification used here, a Super-Earth reaches up to 2.5 times Earth's radius.
