K2-46 is a star located 1470 light-years away. It has 1.19 solar masses and a radius of 1.41 solar radii, making it more massive and larger than the Sun. Its temperature of 6200 K is hotter than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this star.
That planet, K2-46 b, is a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. K2-46 b orbits every 19.2 days and has a radius of 2.05 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
