K2-34 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

K2-34 is a single star system 1140 light-years away. The host star is an F-type star with an age of 4.24 billion years, a mass of 1.23 solar masses, and a radius of 1.58 solar radii. Its temperature is 6150 K, and its reported mass, radius, and temperature are all larger or hotter than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet is K2-34 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered by transit in 2016. It completes an orbit in 3 days and has a radius of 13.8 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Because it orbits so close and so quickly, its transit repeats often - each orbit taking only 3 days.
