K2-247 is a star 842 light-years away with two known planets. The star has a mass of 0.74 solar masses, a radius of 0.69 solar radii, and a temperature of 4670 K; its mass, radius, and temperature are all lower than the Sun's.
Both planets are Super-Earths discovered by transit, the method that detects the slight dimming caused when a planet crosses in front of its star. K2-247 b has a radius of 2.12 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and orbits every 2.25 days. K2-247 c has a radius of 2.19 Earth radii, also larger than Earth's, and orbits every 6.49 days. Among these two planets, K2-247 b has the shortest year and the smallest radius, while K2-247 c has the longest year and the largest radius. Each Super-Earth classification means its radius is up to 2.5 times Earth's.
