K2-214 b: A Neptune-like Planet in a Single-Planet System

K2-214 is a star located 981 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star itself has a mass of 1.13 solar masses and a radius of 1.16 solar radii, making its reported radius estimate larger than the Sun's. Its temperature is 6070 K, which is hotter than the Sun's.

The planet, K2-214 b, is classified as Neptune-like and was discovered in 2018 using the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. K2-214 b has an orbital period of 8.6 days and a radius of 2.51 Earth radii, a reported radius estimate larger than Earth's.
