HD 115404 A: A Nearby K-Type Dwarf with Two Known Planets

HD 115404 A is a K-type main-sequence dwarf 35.8 light-years away, with a spectral type of K2.5 V (k). The star has a reported mass of 0.83 solar masses, a radius of 0.727 solar radii, and a temperature of 5020 K. Its mass, radius, and temperature are all smaller or cooler than the Sun's. Two planets are known to orbit this star.

HD 115404 A b was discovered in 2022 by the radial velocity method, which detects the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. It has a minimum mass of 30.8 Earth masses - a lower bound on its true mass - and an orbital period of 10.5 days, the shortest among the listed planets.

HD 115404 A c was also discovered in 2022 by radial velocity. Its reported mass is 3280 Earth masses, roughly 10.3 times Jupiter's mass, and its orbital period is 15300 days, the longest among the listed planets.
