HATS-76 is a star located 1260 light-years away. It has a mass of 0.662 solar masses and a radius of 0.626 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's corresponding values, and its temperature of 4020 K is cooler than the Sun's. The star is estimated to be 4.6 billion years old. One planet orbits this host.
That planet, HATS-76 b, is a Jupiter-like world discovered in 2021 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. Its radius of 12.1 Earth radii is larger than Earth's, and its mass of 836 Earth masses is also larger than Earth's, roughly 2.63 times Jupiter's mass. The planet completes an orbit in 1.94 days. Its mean density is 2.6 g/cm³, 0.472 times Earth's.
