HATS-58 A and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

HATS-58 A is a star 1320 light-years away with one known planet in orbit around it. The star is 0.31 billion years old, has a mass of 1.46 solar masses, a radius of 1.43 solar radii, and a temperature of 7180 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's.

The planet HATS-58 A b was discovered in 2019 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. It is classified as Jupiter-like, meaning its radius exceeds 4 times Earth's radius. Its radius is 12.3 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and its mass is 327 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 0.976 g/cm³, 0.177 times Earth's. HATS-58 A b completes an orbit every 4.22 days.
