HAT-P-59 is a star 866 light-years from Earth with a single known planet in its system. The star is estimated to be 7.3 billion years old, with a mass of 1.01 solar masses, a radius of 1.1 solar radii, and a temperature of 5680 K. Its radius is larger than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler.
The planet HAT-P-59 b was discovered in 2021 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Classified as Jupiter-like, it has a mass of 489 Earth masses, roughly 1.54 times Jupiter's mass, and a radius of 12.6 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 1.35 g/cm³, 0.245 times Earth's. HAT-P-59 b completes an orbit in 4.14 days.
