HAT-P-18 and Its Lone Planet

HAT-P-18 is a K2 star 526 light-years away with 0.77 solar masses, 0.749 solar radii, a temperature of 4800 K, and an age of 12.4 billion years. It hosts one known planet.

That planet, HAT-P-18 b, was discovered by transit in 2010. It is Jupiter-like, with a radius of 10.7 Earth radii and a mass of 55.5 Earth masses, both larger than Earth's corresponding values. Its orbital period is 5.51 days. Its mean density is 0.249 g/cm³, 0.0453 times Earth's. The star's mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler.
