CoRoT-25 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

CoRoT-25 is an F9 star 3600 light-years away. Its mass is 1.09 solar masses and its radius 1.19 solar radii, both larger than the Sun's, and its temperature of 6040 K is hotter than the Sun's. The star is 4.5 billion years old. One planet orbits it.

That planet, CoRoT-25 b, was found by transit in 2013. A transit is a planet's pass in front of its star, dimming the observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. CoRoT-25 b completes its orbit in 4.86 days.

CoRoT-25 b is Jupiter-like, and both its radius of 12.1 Earth radii and its mass of 85.8 Earth masses are larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 0.266 g/cm³, 0.0483 times Earth's.
