24 Sex: A Sun-Like Star With Two Known Worlds

24 Sex is a star 235 light-years away with two planets known to orbit it. The host is a G5 star, a Sun-like spectral class, and it is cooler than the Sun at 5100 K. Its radius is 4.9 solar radii and its mass is 1.54 solar masses, both larger than the corresponding solar values. The star's age is 2.7 billion years.

Both planets were found in 2010 using the radial velocity method, which detects the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. The first, 24 Sex b, has a minimum mass of 632 Earth masses and an orbital period of 453 days. Its minimum mass is larger than Earth's and corresponds to roughly 1.99 times Jupiter's mass. Among the listed planets, 24 Sex b has the shortest year by reported estimates and the largest minimum mass.

The second planet, 24 Sex c, has a minimum mass of 273 Earth masses and an orbital period of 883 days. Its minimum mass is likewise larger than Earth's. Among the listed planets, 24 Sex c has the longest year by reported estimates and the smallest minimum mass.
