System Layout
3 planets linked to this host
Bet Pic is an A-type main-sequence star, specifically of spectral type A5V, located 64.4 light-years away. Its reported mass estimate is 1.76 solar masses, its radius is 1.55 solar radii, and its temperature is 8050 K. Each of these stellar measurements is larger or hotter than the corresponding value for the Sun. Three planets are known to orbit this host.
Bet Pic b was discovered by imaging in 2008. Its mass is 2770 Earth masses, roughly 8.7 times Jupiter's mass and larger than Earth's. It takes 8680 days to complete one orbit. Bet Pic c was discovered by radial velocity in 2019. The radial velocity method measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion, with repeated wobbles revealing the planet and its orbital period. Bet Pic c also has a reported mass of 2770 Earth masses, larger than Earth's and roughly 8.7 times Jupiter's mass, and orbits in 1200 days. Among the listed planets, bet Pic c has the shortest year by reported estimates, while bet Pic b has the second-shortest.
Bet Pic d was discovered by imaging in 2026 and is classified as Jupiter-like. Jupiter-like planets exceed 4 times Earth's radius, and bet Pic d's radius of 14.1 Earth radii fits that class and is larger than Earth's. Its mass is 763 Earth masses, larger than Earth's and roughly 2.4 times Jupiter's mass. Its mean density is 1.49 g/cm³, 0.271 times Earth's. Bet Pic d orbits in 33200 days, the longest year among the listed planets, and has the smallest reported mass among them at 763 Earth masses.
