WASP-87 is a star 973 light-years away with one known planet. The host star has a mass of 1.31 solar masses, a radius of 1.57 solar radii, and a temperature of 6460 K, making it larger and hotter than the Sun. It is part of a two-star system.
The planet WASP-87 b is a Jupiter-like world discovered by transit in 2016, when it was detected passing in front of its star and causing a small dip in brightness. It has a mass of 693 Earth masses, roughly 2.18 times Jupiter's mass, and a radius of 15.5 Earth radii, both larger than Earth's corresponding values. Its mean density is 1.02 g/cm³, 0.185 times Earth's. WASP-87 b completes an orbit every 1.68 days.
