WASP-66 and Its Solitary Planet

WASP-66 is a star 1630 light-years away with one known planet. The host star has a reported mass estimate of 1.56 solar masses and a reported radius estimate of 1.48 solar radii, both larger than the Sun's. Its reported temperature is 7050 K, hotter than the Sun's.

The planet WASP-66 b is a Jupiter-like world discovered by transit in 2012, meaning it was found when it passed in front of its star from our viewpoint and caused a small dip in observed brightness. It orbits every 4.09 days. Its reported radius estimate is 15.7 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Its mass is 747 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's and roughly 2.35 times Jupiter's mass. Its mean density is 1.06 g/cm³, 0.193 times Earth's.
