WASP-64 and Its Close-Orbiting Giant Planet

WASP-64 is a G7 star located 1210 light-years away. It has an age of 1.2 billion years, a mass of 1 solar masses, a radius of 1.06 solar radii, and a temperature of 5400 K. Its reported radius estimate is larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet is WASP-64 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered by transit in 2012. Its orbital period is 1.57 days, placing it in a very close orbit around its star. WASP-64 b has a radius of 14.2 Earth radii and a mass of 404 Earth masses. Its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's, and its reported mass estimate is larger than Earth's as well as roughly 1.27 times Jupiter's mass. Its mean density is 0.77 g/cm³, 0.14 times Earth's.
