WASP-63 and Its Transiting Planet

WASP-63 is a star 948 light-years from Earth with 1.02 solar masses, 1.79 solar radii, and a temperature of 5720 K. Its reported radius estimate is larger than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.

WASP-63 b is a Jupiter-like planet discovered by transit in 2012, the same method that established its orbital period of 4.38 days. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint.

WASP-63 b has a mass of 118 Earth masses and a radius of 15.8 Earth radii, both larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 0.164 g/cm³, 0.0298 times Earth's. As a Jupiter-like world, it exceeds four times Earth's radius.
