WASP-135 b: A Jupiter-Like World

WASP-135 is a G5 V star located 973 light-years away. It has one known planet. The star is 0.98 solar masses and 0.96 solar radii, with a temperature of 5680 K. It is 0.6 billion years old, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet WASP-135 b is a Jupiter-like world discovered in 2015 by the transit method, which detects the small dip in a star's brightness when a planet passes in front of it from our viewpoint. The planet's mass is 604 Earth masses, and its radius is 14.6 Earth radii. Its orbital period is 1.4 days. Both its mass and radius estimates are larger than Earth's. Its mass estimate is roughly 1.9 times Jupiter's mass. The planet's mean density is 1.08 g/cm³, 0.195 times Earth's.
