TOI-938: A Single Planet in a Distant Star System

TOI-938 is a star located 701 light-years from Earth. It has a mass of 1.1 solar masses, a radius of 0.985 solar radii, and a temperature of 5980 K, making it hotter than the Sun. One planet orbits this host.

That planet, TOI-938 b, is a Jupiter-like world discovered by the transit method in 2026. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. TOI-938 b completes an orbit every 8.81 days, and its radius of 4.82 Earth radii is larger than Earth's. Its size class reflects radius rather than composition: a Jupiter-like planet exceeds 4 times Earth's radius.
