TOI-905: A Cooler, Smaller Star With One Known Planet

TOI-905 is a single star located 517 light-years away. It is 3.4 billion years old and has 0.968 solar masses and 0.918 solar radii, making its reported radius estimate smaller than the Sun's. Its temperature of 5570 K is cooler than the Sun's.

One planet orbits TOI-905. TOI-905 b was discovered in 2020 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Its orbital period is 3.74 days. The planet has a mass of 212 Earth masses and a radius of 13.1 Earth radii, both larger than Earth's corresponding values. It is a Jupiter-like planet, a size class that exceeds 4 times Earth's radius.

TOI-905 b's mean density is 0.517 g/cm³, 0.0937 times Earth's.
