TOI-833 b: An Earth-Sized World in a One-Planet System

TOI-833 is a star 136 light-years away with a mass of 0.591 solar masses, a radius of 0.603 solar radii, and a temperature of 3920 K. Its mass, radius, and temperature are all smaller or cooler than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

That planet is TOI-833 b, an Earth-like world discovered by transit in 2022. Transit occurs when a planet crosses in front of its star from our viewpoint, dimming the observed brightness; repeated dips reveal the orbital period. TOI-833 b completes one orbit in 1.04 days, and its radius of 1.27 Earth radii is larger than Earth's. Earth-like classification places it within 1.5 times Earth's radius.
