TOI-6628 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

TOI-6628 is a star 1050 light-years away with one known planet. The host star is 7.5 billion years old and has a mass of 0.97 solar masses, a radius of 1.01 solar radii, and a temperature of 5460 K. Its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet TOI-6628 b was discovered by transit in 2025, the same method that established its orbital period. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. TOI-6628 b is Jupiter-like, a size class that exceeds 4 times Earth's radius.

TOI-6628 b completes an orbit in 18.2 days, and its radius of 11 Earth radii is larger than Earth's. Its mass is 235 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's, and its mean density is 0.978 g/cm³, 0.177 times Earth's.
