TOI-5261 b: A Jupiter-like World

TOI-5261 is a star 1230 light-years away, orbited by one known planet. The host star is 4.2 billion years old and has 1.04 solar masses within a radius of 1.02 solar radii, at a temperature of 5790 K.

The single planet, TOI-5261 b, was discovered in 2025 by the transit method. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. TOI-5261 b completes an orbit every 4.15 days, and its radius of 11.6 Earth radii places it among the Jupiter-like planets, which exceed 4 times Earth's radius. Its mass estimate of 3650 Earth masses is larger than Earth's and roughly 11.5 times Jupiter's mass. The planet's mean density is 12.9 g/cm³, 2.34 times Earth's.
