TOI-5005 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

TOI-5005 is a G2 V star, a Sun-like main-sequence dwarf, located 678 light-years away. It has a mass of 0.97 solar masses, a radius of 0.93 solar radii, and a temperature of 5750 K. Its age is 2.2 billion years. Both its reported mass estimate and its reported radius estimate are smaller than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this star.

TOI-5005 b is a Jupiter-like planet, a size class that describes a radius exceeding 4 times Earth's radius. It was discovered in 2024 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Its radius is 6.25 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and its mass is 32.7 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 0.738 g/cm³, 0.134 times Earth's. The planet completes an orbit every 6.31 days.
